Can i bring a flat iron to ecuador?

i need to know if i can bring my flat iron to ecuador, it doesn't have to be in my carry on, i just need to have it overthere. also, i dont know if the security check in ecuador, on my way back will allow me to bring it back. one girl told me they took away her curling iron. if anyone knows a website that i can see or has personal experiences they wanna share i would really appreciate it.
