EMAIL ATTACHMENTS-my pc is using Windows XP?

In this age of technology most employers prefer you to email your resume. Now I'm really laying it on thick now-because I've had no answers to this question previously....My husband has been in the mining industry for 15 years and I asked him to work closer to home, so he chose a mine site up here in Darwin(Tom's Gully), which he did. Then the bottom fell out of mining and the mine site closed, now he's out of work. A lot of mine site's have closed around Australia in the last couple of months, which leaves us with a glut of miners looking for work. We have just, brought a property and will go under if he can't find work soon. So to get to the question can any one tell me how to fix my problem...I'm trying to send his resume out to potential employers and they are responding that my email attachments won't open. I explored it a bit and fixed it so that the attachments try to open now-but won't. An error report comes up saying that the files were not supported and/or one of my files may be corrupt. HHHEEEELLLLPPPP!!!!!!!Please!!!!
